Miss Ethnic Non-Specific was first created as a stage play and was performed to sold out audiences in Portland, Oregon in 2017. Audience members expressed great interest in turning it into a film – so at the urging of friends and family – that’s what I’m doing. Working in collaboration with filmmaker Clare Chun the film script is nearing completion.
The show explores my own journey to find identity and self-acceptance, and deals with topics like race, heritage, misogyny, trying to fit into the molds of others…and then shattering them into a million pieces. I am finally comfortable with who I am and want to share my journey of pain, pursuit of the Hollywood dream, growth, humor and ultimately, love.
As we navigate through a world that in this moment in time has deeply rooted challenges I feel this piece is more important than ever. Stereotypes abound and I want to punch through those stereotypes. This show is my contribution to that dialogue.
I am proud to be partnering with Clare Chun Productions on adapting the show to film.
Check out this segment on Portland Today with me talking about the show.

Douglas is a short film about a small stuffed chick that becomes a silent companion to an elderly woman and helps her find peace in her final days at a hospice facility.
The film is an ode to those that work in hospice; who are often not recognized for the heroic work they do; while also showing an elderly woman at the end of her life and the range of emotions that come within those last days.
